Lake Treatment for Nuisance Vegetation
Lake management services can help reduce nuisance vegetation growing in your lake or pond. Lake treatments typically target common lake and pond vegetation, such as:
- Filamentous algae
- Fine leaf pondweed
- Broad leaf pondweed
- Coontail
- Southern naiad
- Duckweed
- Watermeal
- Creeping water primrose
- Cattails
- American lotus
- Water shield
Gateway Lake Management LLC can help you determine if lake management services might be an option for your lake or pond. The first step is to describe the type and amount of vegetation that is present. The biologist will then determine if an on-site visit is needed to further assess the scope of vegetation and evaluate the conditions that may be contributing to vegetation growth. These inputs, as well as weather conditions, time of year, and the customer’s budget will determine whether lake management services are feasible for your lake or pond or if other options are available. Some lakes, ponds, or retention basins may not be good candidates for a treatment program. Lakes with excessive vegetation, due to high nutrient sources, shallow depth, holes or leaks, high temperatures, etc. do not always react to chemical applications and may not be manageable. These situations typically require a more intensive solution such as dredging. Gateway Lake Management LLC’s biologist can help evaluate your specific situation.
